The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Taraba State, Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan has described the performance of the state athletes so far at the ongoing 8th edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba as a testament to the commitment of Governor Agbu Kefas’s Moving Forward agenda and Youth Development.
Jauro stated this while speaking to Ziti News via telephone on Thursday 19th September 2024, which is the date for the closing ceremony but Team Taraba has some competitions to participate in with the hope of securing Gold medals.
Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan who is also the Chairman of the Jalingo Local Government Council, described sports as a crucial part of young people’s growth and development, hence the need for more investment in the sector.
He appreciated Dr. Agbu Kefas for his commitment toward the revitalization of the sector and youth empowerment, as well as women’s inclusiveness in governance among other policies of his Moving Forward agenda.
The Chairman commended Solomi Philip for winning a Gold medal in the local wrestling (KOKOWA), and two others for securing Bronze medals so far.
Additionally, Dr. Jauro Hassan believes that before the end of the program, more medals will come to Team Taraba in the remaining sports events.
