2024 World Peace Day: Group Storms Abuja with National Unity Dance Festival Season 3

In commemoration of World Peace Day 2024, the Drum Majors for Peace, a socio-cultural organisation in partnership with the Department of Arts & Culture, Social Development Secretariat (FCTA), is set to host the 3rd edition of National Unity Dance Festival in Abuja, Nigeria.

This is contained in a release signed by the Executive Director of Drum Majors for Peace, Ambassador Nsikan Paul and made available to Ziti News today.

According to the release, the event which is scheduled for Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Cyprian Ekwensi Center for Arts & Culture, Area 10, Garki, Abuja will highlight the power of dance as a tool for unity under the theme: “Dance; A Catalyst for Unity.”

It noted that the National Unity Dance Festival is an annual event with international recognition and dynamic in nature aimed at promoting peace, inclusivity and social cohesion in Nigeria and beyond.

“Drum Majors for Peace has long believed in the arts’ transforming potential, and this festival exemplifies the organization’s dedication to promoting tolerance and understanding through creative expression,” the statement reads

The Executive Director, stated: “Dance is a universal language that transcends boundaries, and through this festival, we hope to inspire unity and harmony among people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.”

He added that Researchers, Academicians, the Diplomatic community, Political, community and Religious Leaders, Private and Public Organization/Institutions, NGOs and CSOs, youth groups will all gather to advance the course of peace and unity through creative arts and entertainment.

He believes the initiative will create maximum and tremendous impacts especially now that the country is bedevilled with all forms of insecurity ranging from kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, religious intolerance and Good Governance protest that suggests disintegration.

The festival will showcase performances by talented Nigerian dancers, each representing a request for peace and unity. With a focus on cultural diversity and creative empowerment, the event will commemorate Nigeria’s rich legacy and promise of harmony.
