21 MORE AGENCIES JOIN FG’s ANTI-FRAUD REVENUE DRIVE AS NEPZA LEADS PUSH FOR FULL FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY

21 MORE AGENCIES JOIN FG’s ANTI-FRAUD REVENUE DRIVE AS NEPZA LEADS PUSH FOR FULL FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY

By Queen Kunde

The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) and 20 other federal agencies are set to join the Federal Government’s new Revenue Optimisation and Assurance Platform (RevOP), a major initiative aimed at blocking revenue leakages, curbing fraud and improving transparency in public finances.

The commitment was made during a high-level meeting in Abuja on Tuesday between the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, and the chief executives of the affected agencies.

The platform, alongside the Federal Treasury e-Receipt (FTe-R) system, was approved by the Federal Executive Council as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to strengthen accountability and ensure proper monitoring of government revenue and expenditure.

Speaking through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Muhammed Sanusi, the minister said the platform would provide a comprehensive record of government income and spending, helping to eliminate financial misconduct.

Oyedele disclosed that 31 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) had already been integrated into the system, while 21 additional agencies would come on board in the next phase.

He urged the agencies to embrace the initiative without delay, stressing that the government was determined to achieve full financial transparency and accountability before the end of the year.

“We encourage all agencies to key into this important government initiative to strengthen financial due process across the board,” he said.

NEPZA Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, assured that the authority was fully prepared to comply with the new system, noting that NEPZA’s existing digital financial structure would support a smooth transition.

According to him, the authority was encouraged by the Federal Government’s commitment to improving financial oversight and promoting transparency.

He said the initiative would help advance the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen public confidence in government financial management.

The new platform is expected to play a key role in ensuring that all government revenues are properly tracked, monitored and accounted for, as the Tinubu administration intensifies efforts to boost financial discipline across the public sector.
