ACOE Strengthens Ties with NUJ FCT Council, Adopts Constitution to Boost Governance

The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) has reaffirmed its dedication to ethical journalism and collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, following a visit from the council’s newly elected Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, and Vice Chairman, Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo.

During the meeting in Abuja, Comrade Ike praised ACOE’s contributions to journalism and encouraged the association to maintain its commitment to balanced and accurate reporting. She emphasized the importance of partnership, stating, “We look forward to working with ACOE to achieve shared goals in 2025 and beyond.”

In response, ACOE Chairman, Mr. Martins Odiete, assured the NUJ leaders of the association’s unwavering loyalty and pledged to strengthen collaboration, noting that ACOE members are active NUJ cardholders.

The meeting coincided with a landmark achievement for ACOE: the adoption of its first constitution. Approved during a special Congress session on January 23, 2025, the 18-page document outlines the association’s governance principles, cementing its commitment to transparency, accountability, and unity.

The constitution was the result of months of meticulous work by a drafting committee led by Nnamdi Okosieme. Mr. Odiete lauded the team’s efforts and emphasized the document’s role in guiding ACOE’s activities moving forward.

The dual milestones underscore ACOE’s focus on ethical journalism, robust governance, and collaboration within Nigeria’s media landscape.
