BIPC Filling Station Nears Completion for CNG Conversion, Promising Cleaner, Cheaper Fuel for Benue

By Queen Kunde Enoch

The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) Filling Station is undergoing a major transformation, set to include a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion centre, with work now reaching an advanced stage.

The project is poised to offer vehicle owners in Benue State access to both CNG refueling services and vehicle conversion facilities, marking a significant step towards the state’s embrace of cleaner, sustainable energy.

As part of the remodeling, significant progress has been made at the facility, with structural upgrades nearing completion and essential maintenance, including the work on the underground tanks, already underway. A corporate communications team, led by Joyce Isiaku, recently visited the site to inspect the ongoing developments, which reflect a clear commitment to delivering an environmentally-friendly energy solution to local drivers.

This initiative is driven by a shared vision between key stakeholders, including His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, President Bola Tinubu, and the Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA. Their collaborative effort underscores a strong commitment to the promotion of alternative fuel options and reducing reliance on traditional fossil fuels, in line with national and global sustainability goals.

The new CNG conversion centre, once completed, will offer vehicle owners in the state a seamless transition from petrol and diesel to compressed natural gas, a cost-effective and eco-friendly fuel alternative. As part of the federal government’s broader push to encourage the adoption of alternative fuels, this initiative will play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions, contributing to cleaner air, and supporting the country’s broader environmental targets.

The remodeled BIPC Filling Station is set to become a dual-purpose facility—serving not only as a refueling station for CNG vehicles but also as a conversion centre for those interested in modifying their cars to run on the alternative fuel. This ambitious project is expected to have far-reaching impacts on the local economy, from creating new job opportunities to fostering a greener environment for residents of Benue State.

As the project nears its completion, the move towards CNG reflects the growing importance of clean energy in addressing Nigeria’s energy and environmental challenges. For the people of Benue, this transformation will not only mean access to a more sustainable fuel option but also a chance to be part of a broader, nationwide shift towards renewable energy solutions.

In conclusion, the remodel of the BIPC Filling Station represents a forward-thinking approach to tackling the challenges of rising fuel costs and environmental degradation. When completed, it will stand as a beacon of progress, offering both the people of Benue State and Nigeria at large a practical and sustainable alternative fuel solution.
