In a significant move to boost Benue State’s economy and promote sustainable energy, the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has announced a strategic partnership with the Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) and AAZARAT ENERGY to establish a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station and a CNG conversion centre in the state capital, Makurdi.
The exciting announcement was made by Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA, the Group Managing Director/CEO of BIPC, during a meeting with members of the North Presidential CNG Initiative and AAZARAT ENERGY at the company’s headquarters in Makurdi.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Asemakaha emphasized that the project would not only reduce transportation costs but also foster economic growth by creating jobs and driving innovation in the state. He revealed that the company’s existing filling station, located next to its corporate headquarters, will be repurposed for the CNG initiative. He also shared that in the first phase of the project, 20 youths will be trained to develop the necessary skills for the CNG sector.
“We are excited to partner with Pi-CNG and AAZARAT ENERGY to bring this innovative energy solution to Benue State. The CNG station and conversion centre will significantly lower transportation costs, create job opportunities, and fuel economic growth,” said Dr. Asemakaha.
Representatives from Pi-CNG, including Suleiman Olawole, Lara Obileye, and David Idokwo, highlighted their vision for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for Benue State. Their primary goal, they explained, is to provide a cost-effective and reliable CNG refueling solution, making transportation more affordable and environmentally friendly.
As part of the initiative, the team also committed to facilitating the acquisition of 500 CNG-powered tricycles (popularly known as ‘keke’) and buses for the state, further strengthening the state’s transition to cleaner energy solutions.
Bankole Olabisi, representative of AAZARAT ENERGY, underscored the benefits of the CNG initiative, including modular refueling units, enhanced storage options, and the overall positive impact of CNG conversion.
This partnership is poised to transform Benue State’s transportation landscape, driving economic development and supporting the state’s shift to more sustainable and affordable energy solutions.
