The Management of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has alerted the public to the circulation of counterfeit versions of its bread products in the market, warning consumers to be extra vigilant.
In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Joyce Isiaku, BIPC announced that it has introduced enhanced security features on its bread wrappers to protect customers and safeguard product integrity.
The new features include a barcode with a 13-digit serial number, which can be scanned to verify authenticity, as well as positive and negative sign marks clearly displayed on the top right edge of the wrappers to help buyers easily distinguish genuine BIPC bread from fake ones.
The company urged consumers, distributors, and retailers to always check for these identifiers before purchase or consumption. Members of the public were also encouraged to report any suspicious products through the dedicated phone lines provided.
BIPC assured that the move is part of its commitment to ensuring quality, safety, and trust for its consumers.
