The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has taken another major step towards the completion of the state’s flagship Food Basket Brewery project with the arrival of the second batch of brewing equipment from China.
The latest consignment, comprising 10 containers, arrived today, bringing the total so far to 26 out of 50 containers expected from the People’s Republic of China. The first batch of 16 containers was received on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA, hailed the progress and praised the unwavering support of the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, whose administration facilitated the project.
“We are looking into the future. This project will create jobs for thousands of graduates across Benue State and stimulate economic activity within and beyond our borders,” Dr. Asemakaha said.
Quoting the governor’s vision, he noted that the decision to partner with China on the brewery equipment was a deliberate move to prepare for the growing number of graduates in the state, citing the recent matriculation of over 9,000 students at Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University.
The GMD revealed that upon completion, the Food Basket Brewery is projected to generate over 1,500 direct jobs and boost state revenue by about ?400 million monthly.
“More equipment deliveries are expected in the coming days, and installation will commence shortly,” he confirmed.
The brewery, a flagship investment of the Benue State Government, is designed to harness the state’s rich agricultural produce, reduce unemployment, promote local enterprise, and reposition Benue’s economic outlook for year-on-year growth.
With steady equipment arrivals and installation plans underway, the project is well on track to become one of the largest agro-industrial ventures in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
