Budget Process: OXFAM Builds Capacity of CSOs in Taraba State

Oxfam Nigeria under its project PROSELL, has trained members of the civil society organisations, CSOs in Taraba State on Budget process, Social Accountability and Community Development Planning.

The Two-day workshop which held in Ardo Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State is aimed at strengthening the capacity of Civil Society Organization in the selected Local Government Areas of Ardo-Kola, Kurmi, Wukari, Takum, Zing and Donga to support communities in identifying their service delivery needs in an inclusive manner as well as promoting rights based approaches to development .

In an exclusive interview with Ziti News, the PROSELL Project Manager of OXFAM in Taraba State, Babangida Joseph said the training is aimed at strengthening capacity of CSOs and partners in the targeted local government areas on budget process, citizens engagements and planning as OXFAM alone cannot do it hence their careful selection of such CSOs and Partners to carry out the project in the communities targeted by the project.

Babangida who hailed the interest of the government of Taraba State through its Ministries of Budget and Planning and Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources added that all hands must be on deck to be able to achieve the project’s objectives.

 He said that there are more future engagements, as such, CSOs and partners are crucial to OXFAM improvement of the budget and community development process in the selected LGAs.

The PROSELL Training workshop put together by OXFAM and Development Exchange Center (DEC) as partners in Taraba State is funded by European Union.
