Community Development plans: CSOs Sue for Support of Council.

Some Members of Civil Society Organizations in Taraba State today Paid an advocacy visit on the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council Abdulnasser Boboji  to intimate him on the objectives of the Community Development Planning (CDPs), a component of the Oxfam ,DEC Pro-Sell Project implemented in the state funded by the European Union, EU.

The team Leader, Raymond Enoch of the National Committee on Family Farming, NCFF, Nigeria who said the aims of the CDPs is to assist the communities of the LGA to identify and develop their social service delivery priority needs to be implemented by the government adding that the Local Government Council as third tier of government at the grassroot is expected to engender community participation in key sectoral development and budget processes and its implementation.

He solicited the support of the council and said as CSOs they are partners in progress with the government.

 In his response Chairman, Jalingo Local Government Council, Abdulnasser Boboji acknowledged that the activities of the Civil Society Organizations are complimentary to the efforts of the government, expressed delight over the team’s visit, pledging to work with the Civil Society organizations to develop the communities in Jalingo local government area .

Boboji said he is hopeful, the intervention of the EU funded project will impact positively on the Communities, assured that the statutory departments and the communities will cooperate to ensure success of the project.

He called on the CSOs to continue to compliment the effort of the authorities in not only community development but peace and security as well as youth engagement.

The advocacy visit to the Jalingo Local government council Chairman had the participation of the Jalingo Local Government elected councilors and members of five Civil Society Organizations in Jalingo the Taraba State capital is one in the series lined up to meet with relevant stakeholders to achieve the CDPs.
