In a proactive move to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid al-Adha celebration, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc, has issued a directive to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State Police Commands to ramp up security efforts ahead of the 2025 festivities.
The directive, released on June 4, mandates heightened vigilance, strategic deployment, and visible policing across both regions. AIG Olaiya stressed the importance of robust intelligence gathering and collaboration with community stakeholders to prevent any potential threats or disruptions during the holiday.
“Our commitment is unwavering,” the AIG stated. “We are fully prepared to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations.”
Zone 7 reassured residents that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain peace, law, and order. Citizens are urged to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
The press release, signed by ASP Mohammed Halima, Police Public Relations Officer for the Zone, comes as part of the police’s wider strategy to ensure public safety during one of the year’s most significant religious holidays.
