By Queen Kunde

As Muslims across Nigeria mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, Grace Ike, has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.

In her Eid-el-Fitr message, Ike described the Ramadan period as a time of deep spiritual reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to humanity. She commended Muslim faithful for their discipline and devotion throughout the fasting season, noting that such values are essential for fostering social harmony and national cohesion.

The NUJ FCT Chair called on journalists and Nigerians at large to sustain the virtues of patience, tolerance, generosity, and empathy cultivated during Ramadan. She stressed that Eid-el-Fitr offers a unique opportunity for citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic background, to strengthen bonds of unity and mutual respect.

Highlighting the importance of compassion, Ike encouraged well-meaning individuals to extend support to the less privileged, emphasizing that the celebration goes beyond festivities to include acts of kindness and sharing.

She also charged leaders at all levels to reflect the lessons of sacrifice and service associated with Ramadan by promoting inclusive policies that prioritize the welfare of the people.

While wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid celebration, Ike advised residents to celebrate responsibly and adhere to public safety guidelines.
