A major step toward improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria was taken as Evansville Healthcare Foundation Worldwide signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria to strengthen pharmaceutical standards and public health awareness across the country.
The agreement, announced on Thursday, will see both organizations collaborate on programs aimed at improving safe medication practices, educating the public on health issues, and tackling drug abuse.
Under the partnership, the two bodies will organize medical outreach programmes, health education campaigns, pharmacist-led community engagements and training initiatives to improve healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
Founder and Executive Director of Evansville Healthcare Foundation Worldwide, Akunwanne Samuel Ifeanyi, described the agreement as an important step toward building a healthier nation.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to protecting public health and ensuring that Nigerians have access to safe and effective healthcare services,” he said. “Working together with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, we will expand our outreach and impact millions of people through education, prevention and healthcare intervention programmes.”
The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria also reaffirmed its commitment to working with credible organizations to promote professional pharmacy practice and protect the public from the dangers of counterfeit and substandard medicines.
Officials said the collaboration will support nationwide campaigns focused on drug abuse prevention, responsible use of medicines and the strengthening of community health systems.
Evansville Healthcare Foundation Worldwide, a humanitarian and public health organization, has been actively involved in improving healthcare access through medical outreaches, disease prevention programmes and community health initiatives in Nigeria and beyond.
With the new partnership, both organizations say they hope to bring better healthcare services closer to communities and improve the overall wellbeing of Nigerians.
