Barrister Onome Ewhrudjakpor Obuotor, an international legal icon, was born on January 28, 1965, and passed away on November 25, 2024. Known for his profound contributions to legal systems in Nigeria and The Gambia, Barr Obuotor served as a Parliamentary Counsel in The Gambia, mentoring numerous legal officers and leaving an indelible mark on the profession.

A service of songs will be held in his honor on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Basilica of Grace, Gudu, Abuja. The funeral service follows on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the same venue, officiated by top clergy, including The Most Rev. Henry C. Ndukuba. Interment will take place at Gudu Cemetery, followed by a reception.

A Storied Career
Barr Obuotor’s illustrious career began as a Principal Legal Officer with Nigeria’s Anti-Corruption Commission, where he prosecuted cases and contributed to international conventions. Later, as Chief State Counsel in Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Justice, he played a pivotal role in drafting laws and statutory instruments.

In 2008, he transitioned to international service under the Nigeria-Gambia Bilateral Agreement. For 16 years, he served as a Technical Assistant and Parliamentary Counsel in The Gambia, where he shaped legislative processes and mentored young legal professionals.

A Family Man and Humanitarian
Beyond his career, Barr Obuotor was a devoted husband to Yetunde Obabunmi Obuotor and a loving father to three children—Barrister Omonigho, Dr. Aghogho, and Ejiroghene Obuotor. His family remembers him as a pillar of love, wisdom, and strength.

He also shared a deep bond with his siblings, balancing his demanding career with an unwavering commitment to family values and service to humanity.

A Lasting Legacy
