The Education Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has firmly dismissed a viral voice note circulating in Hausa that falsely claims students in FCT schools are being indoctrinated into a particular religion against their will.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Saturday, the Secretariat labeled the audio as “misleading and malicious,” stating that the allegations are baseless and designed to incite religious tension.
“Our investigations reveal that the schools mentioned in the voice note are not located in the FCT,” the statement clarified. “These institutions GSS Mararaba, GSS Bakin Ado, GJSS Kurunduma, and Aunty Alice School are in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, which lies 20 to 25 kilometers outside Abuja.”
The FCTA emphasized that FCT schools remain secular institutions where students of all religious backgrounds Muslims and Christians alike learn together in a peaceful and inclusive environment. The Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to upholding freedom of worship and protecting every child’s right to learn free from religious coercion.
“Teachers and school administrators in the FCT are highly trained professionals who operate within strict ethical boundaries,” the release added. “They are dedicated to building responsible and disciplined citizens without bias.”
The statement also highlighted the education reforms under the leadership of FCT Minister Barrister Nyesom Wike, citing large-scale renovation and infrastructure upgrades across all six Area Councils as evidence of the administration’s commitment to quality education.
Dr. Danlami Hayyo, Mandate Secretary for Education, is overseeing a robust monitoring system to ensure FCT schools maintain high standards of discipline, inclusiveness, and academic excellence.
The FCTA warned that it will not hesitate to pursue legal and administrative action against individuals or groups spreading disinformation intended to destabilize the education system or sow division.
The public and media have been urged to disregard the voice note entirely and rely only on verified information from official FCTA sources.
