FRSC SACKS 43 OFFICERS OVER DESERTION, MISCONDUCT

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dismissed 43 of its personnel for desertion, scandalous behaviour and patrol misconduct, in what officials describe as a strong warning against indiscipline within the agency.

According to the Corps, 31 officers were dismissed for desertion, five for scandalous conduct, and seven for patrol-related offences.

Announcing the decision on Wednesday, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, said the action reflects the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for misconduct.

“The FRSC badge is a symbol of honour and responsibility,” he said. “Any officer who violates the standards of this institution will face the full weight of our disciplinary system.”

Mohammed described desertion as a serious breach of oath, especially for an organisation responsible for protecting millions of road users across the country. He added that scandalous behaviour and patrol misconduct damage public trust and go against the Corps’ values of discipline, transparency and service.

The FRSC said it will strengthen internal monitoring and supervision across its commands nationwide to prevent future misconduct. It also pledged to continue building a professional workforce guided by integrity and operational excellence.

The Corps called on Nigerians to maintain confidence in its operations and support its mission to make the nation’s roads safer.

The statement was signed by Olusegun Ogungbemide, Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, at the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja.
