INWOAD Congratulates Founder, Evelyn Onyilo as 30 Years After Graduation, Media Icon Joins NIPR

In a powerful story of determination and lifelong growth, respected media figure and women’s advocate Evelyn Onyilo has been inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) 30 years after graduating with a degree in Mass Communication.

Her achievement is being celebrated across the country as proof that success can come at any time.

Members of the Initiative for Women’s Accelerated Development in Africa (INWOAD), an organization she founded, described the moment as inspiring and “long overdue.” They praised her strong will, discipline, and years of hard work.

Speaking after her induction, an emotional Onyilo said she was grateful for the journey.
“I give glory to God I finally did it. It is never too late to seek knowledge or improve yourself,” she said. “I’m grateful to everyone who encouraged me.”

Onyilo is widely known for her long career in the media. She spent 22 years with the Nigerian Television Authority, where she earned respect as a trusted broadcaster. She also served as President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, using her position to support and uplift women in the industry.

Today, she is the publisher of Phenomenal People Magazine, where she continues to tell impactful stories.

Beyond journalism, Onyilo leads INWOAD, an organization focused on promoting gender equality and empowering women across Africa. She is also known for her humanitarian work as a dedicated Rotarian.

In a joint statement, INWOAD leaders Lydia Samson and Mina Daniels described Onyilo as “a beacon of excellence and ethical leadership,” adding that her achievement would inspire many women and professionals.

Adding to her recent milestones, Onyilo has also been appointed to serve on the APC National Convention Committee on Emergency Response, a role seen as recognition of her experience and commitment to service.

For many, her story carries a simple but powerful message: it is never too late to grow, to learn, and to succeed.

As Evelyn Onyilo steps into this new chapter, her journey continues to inspire others to keep going no matter how long it takes.
