As the world marks International Women’s Day 2025, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, is urging stakeholders to take bold steps toward gender equality.
Chairperson Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang emphasized the importance of recognizing women’s contributions across various sectors and called for intensified efforts to bridge gender gaps, particularly for rural women.
With the sub-theme “Amplifying the Voice of Rural Women,” NAWOJ FCT highlights the urgent need for inclusive policies, economic empowerment, and better access to education and healthcare.
The group also urged government agencies, corporate bodies, and media organizations to champion women’s rights and dismantle barriers to progress.
“As journalists and advocates, we are committed to using the power of the media to drive change and ensure that every woman’s voice is heard,” Ikpang stated.
NAWOJ FCT reaffirmed its dedication to advancing women’s empowerment through advocacy, capacity-building, and strategic partnerships.
