Kwara State Police Commissioner Visits Bereaved Family, Assures Justice in Ongoing Investigation

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, has assured the family of late Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola that the police will conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

CP Olaiya, representing the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, paid a condolence visit to the family on September 10, 2024.

During the visit, the Commissioner expressed gratitude to the bereaved family for their cooperation with the ongoing investigation.

He conveyed the IGP’s commitment to ensuring that justice prevails, assuring that the case will be handled with transparency.

The statement, issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, revealed that the IGP has directed the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) to take over the investigation to ensure impartiality.

“All officers involved in the case have been transferred to enable a comprehensive inquiry.”

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Muselim Abdulyekeen and his wife, Mrs. Ramat Abdulyekeen, expressed their appreciation to the IGP and the Kwara State Police Command for their support.

They reiterated their hope that the investigation will bring justice for their late son.

Religious and community leaders, including the family’s cleric, Alhaji Mohamed Kewugbemi, and the family head, Alhaji Erolalujana (Olori-Ebi), offered prayers for the family and commended the police for their efforts.

The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, was also present to express solidarity with the bereaved family.

CP Victor Olaiya reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to ensuring justice is served and pledged that the investigation will be conducted with utmost transparency.
