The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 1,000 petty traders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), providing financial support and business tools to boost their livelihoods and strengthen economic inclusion.
Speaking at the empowerment programme in Karon Majigi, Abuja, on Saturday, FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, praised the First Lady for her commitment to supporting vulnerable Nigerians and promoting social inclusion.

The programme, organised under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), is aimed at helping small-scale entrepreneurs, women, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups become economically self-reliant.
Mahmoud described the intervention as a practical demonstration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on improving the welfare and economic well-being of Nigerians.
She said the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s determination to ensure that persons living with disabilities and other vulnerable citizens are fully integrated into the country’s economic and social development.
According to the minister, empowering vulnerable groups is not only a humanitarian effort but also an investment in national development.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Administration to policies that promote equal opportunities, accessibility, and full participation of all citizens in governance and development.
Mahmoud also urged beneficiaries to make good use of the support to expand their businesses, improve their income, and positively impact their communities.
Earlier, former FCT APC Women Leader, Hailmary Aipoh, commended the First Lady for her compassion and dedication to improving the lives of women, families, and vulnerable Nigerians.
She expressed confidence that the empowerment package would help beneficiaries grow their businesses and achieve greater financial stability.
The event drew beneficiaries from across the FCT, many of whom described the support as timely relief amid current economic challenges.
