In a proud moment for the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Dr. Rebecca Bolanle Ukpevo, Vice Chairperson of the FCT Chapter, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Leadership and Management by the British American Open University of California, USA.

Dr. Ukpevo also received the prestigious Award of Honorary Fellow from the British American Institute of Governance, Leadership, and Business (BAIGRAB UK), based in Sheffield, England — a double honour that recognizes her outstanding contributions to journalism, leadership, education, and societal development.

Celebrated for her tireless dedication to positive change, Dr. Ukpevo has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence and integrity in public service and the media space. Her award reflects decades of professional resilience and her role as an inspiring voice for women in journalism.

Congratulatory messages have poured in from colleagues, civil society groups, and professional bodies who described her achievement as “well-deserved” and “a testament to her selfless service and visionary leadership.”

As she adds the title “Dr.” to her name, many see this as a new chapter in her trailblazing journey to empower women, promote ethical journalism, and influence policy direction through advocacy and mentorship.

NAWOJ FCT and the larger media community have hailed the award as a landmark moment, not just for Ukpevo, but for women in journalism across Nigeria.

“She is not just a leader; she is a beacon of inspiration for the next generation of journalists,”one colleague remarked.
