*5,000+ Delegates Expected as Nigeria Leads Africa’s Push for Civil Service Reform

In a landmark move set to place Nigeria at the epicenter of global governance innovation, the country will host the *inaugural International Civil Service Conference (ICSC) from June 25 to 26, 2025 in Abuja.

The announcement was made today by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, during a press briefing to mark preparations for the 2025 African Public Service Day and Civil Service Week.

With the theme “Rejuvenate, Innovate & Accelerate!”, the conference will bring together over 5,000 delegates from around the world including the *United Kingdom, Azerbaijan, Singapore, and Ghana in what promises to be an unprecedented gathering of civil service minds focused on 21st-century transformation.
The ICSC will feature:
- Keynote speeches from global reform leaders
- Roundtable discussions on digital governance and service innovation
- A youth engagement platform for emerging public sector leaders
- Over 100 public-private exhibitions
- A memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing to strengthen international cooperation
The conference will be officially declared open by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at Eagle Square, Abuja, on June 25.
Calling on the private sector to support the historic initiative, Mrs. Walson-Jack invited sponsors to partner at various levels in advancing Nigeria’s bold public service transformation under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25) and Agenda 2063 of the African Union.
“This conference is more than a celebration it’s a strategic leap,” she said. “Nigeria is stepping forward to lead not just in Africa, but globally, in redefining what a responsive, citizen-focused civil service looks like.”
The event marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing reform journey, signaling a renewed commitment to modernisation, efficiency, and inclusive governance.
