The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has commenced a nationwide training of corps members to facilitate NIN enrolment in all electoral wards of the federation.
The initiative is a key component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes inclusive national identity coverage for all Nigerians and legal residents.
With over 120 million Nigerians already registered, NIMC aims to penetrate previously underserved and remote areas through this Ward Enrolment Strategy. The newly trained corps members will serve as frontline agents to bring NIN registration closer to grassroots communities, especially targeting children under 16 and other hard-to-reach populations.
“This project is not just a policy it is a practical step toward digital inclusion and national development,” said Engr. (Dr) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director-General and CEO of NIMC. She praised President Tinubu’s unwavering support for the commission’s mandate and commended the Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, as well as NYSC DG, Brigadier-General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, for their strategic collaboration.
The training program is already underway, with deployment expected to begin shortly, signaling a major milestone in the country’s digital identification ecosystem.
