NIMC Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for NIN Enrollment Extortion

By Queen Kunde

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on extortion, emphasizing that the National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment process remains entirely free of charge. The Commission has made it clear that neither NIMC staff nor its Front-End Partners (FEPs) are authorized to demand any payment from applicants.

In a recent statement, NIMC called on security agencies to investigate and take action against any individual or organization found extorting fees for NIN enrollment, warning that offenders would face severe legal consequences, including the revocation of FEP licenses.

The public has been urged to report any instances of extortion to the Commission through the following contacts:

Email: customercare@nimc.gov.ng

NIMC reassures Nigerians of its ongoing efforts to ensure a smooth and accessible enrollment process for all.
