In a landmark recognition of trailblazing leadership and journalistic excellence, Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, has been honored with the prestigious African Leadership Excellence Award at the 2025 African Legendary Award (AFRILA).
The award, presented at the third edition of AFRILA in Abuja, celebrates Ike’s outstanding leadership, humanitarian contributions, and influential presence in broadcast journalism.
Represented by Ebriku John Friday, editor of the NUJ FCT online news platform, who praised her dedication to inclusive leadership and welfare-driven reforms within the NUJ. Friday also spotlighted her historic achievement as the first female chairperson in the Council’s 41-year history.
In a statement, Ike expressed profound gratitude to the award organisers, dedicating the honour to God and the members of the NUJ FCT Council. She called on journalists to continue upholding ethical standards and championing fair, balanced reporting in their work.
With over 17 years of experience in the media industry, Grace Ike currently serves at the Advocate Broadcasting Network (ADBN) in Abuja, where she continues to inspire a new generation of journalists.
