The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Jacob Edi, a former Chairman of the Council, on his conferment with the prestigious traditional title of “Kakaki of Bassange” in Kogi State.

The announcement was made in a press statement signed by the Council’s Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, on Friday in Abuja. The conferment ceremony, to be conducted by HRM Brig. Gen. Abu Ali, the ETSU Bassange, is scheduled to take place on December 27, 2024, at the Central Primary School, Gbokolo, the Traditional Headquarters of Bassange Kingdom, at 10:00 am.

The NUJ described the title as a fitting recognition of Hon. Edi’s significant contributions as a media icon and his unwavering commitment to the development of the Bassange community and Kogi State at large.

“Hon. Jacob Edi is a man of proven integrity and reputation. This prestigious honor is a testament to his exemplary service, dedication, and contributions to his community,” the statement reads.

The NUJ FCT Council praised Hon. Edi for his leadership qualities, intelligence, and ability to foster peaceful coexistence among his people. His achievements in journalism, leadership, and nation-building were highlighted as pivotal to his selection for this honor.

“You have built bridges across ethnic and religious divides, extending beyond your professional contributions in journalism. Your leadership will undoubtedly advance the unity and peace of the Bassange people.”

The Council expressed confidence that the new title would inspire Hon. Edi to continue his efforts as a unifying figure in his community and the nation. His legacy of professionalism and excellence in the media industry, they noted, serves as a source of inspiration for younger generations.

“Congratulations once again on this significant achievement. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact you will make in your new capacity as ‘Kakaki of Bassange.’”

The conferment ceremony promises to be a memorable event, celebrating a man whose contributions have left an indelible mark on journalism, community service, and nation-building.
