The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to its members, leaders, and partners for their overwhelming support and participation in the just-concluded 2025 Press Week, which has been described as one of the most vibrant in recent memory.

In a message titled “Appreciation! Appreciation!! Appreciation!!!”, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, extended gratitude to all members who turned out en masse for the weeklong celebration, commending their enthusiasm, unity, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of journalism.

“Our members showed true solidarity and passion, which were the driving force behind the success of this year’s Press Week,” she noted. “Your active participation reflected the strength and resilience of our union.”

She particularly lauded the Executive Council (EXCO) for their strategic leadership and tireless dedication, crediting their efforts with steering the event to excellence. Special mention was given to the Press Week Planning Committee, chaired by Rt. Evelyn Onyilo, for what she described as “meticulous planning and flawless execution” that ensured the program stood out as a symbol of professionalism and integrity.

In her message, Comrade Ike also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of former Council chairmen, whose guidance and wisdom laid the foundation for this year’s success. “The legacy of your dedication continues to inspire us,” she said.

Chapel chairmen and secretaries across various media organisations were equally praised for their role in mobilizing members, resulting in an impressive turnout throughout the event. The leadership also extended heartfelt appreciation to union veterans, whose mentorship and years of service remain pillars of NUJ FCT’s enduring strength.

Comrade Ike further thanked the numerous media houses and online platforms that gave extensive coverage to the Press Week activities. “Your partnership amplified our message and broadened our reach,” she noted.

The NUJ FCT boss concluded her address with a rallying call to build on the momentum and continue upholding the principles of press freedom, professionalism, and journalists’ welfare.

“Long live NUJ FCT. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” she declared.
