NYCN : Dauphin Hails Leadership Retreat, Unveils Bold Agenda for Youth in Extractive Sector

The Director of Petroleum, Gas and Solid Minerals at the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Christian Dauphin has commended the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Council for successfully organizing a strategic National Leadership Retreat designed to reposition the NYCN for national impact.

The retreat, held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the Palms Hotel in Abuja, brought together NEC members, State Chairmen, and Directors under the leadership of Ambassador Solomon Adodo, the NYCN President.

Describing the event as “intellectually enriching and strategically transformative,” Comrade Dauphin declared the retreat a turning point for the Council, signaling its rebirth from a prolonged state of dormancy.

“The NYCN is no longer sleeping—it has risen to take its rightful place as a national development ally,” he stated passionately.

He praised the quality of discourse, noting that the retreat successfully rekindled a collective vision and inspired a renewed resolve to make NYCN a credible voice and partner in Nigeria’s development landscape.

Dauphin used the occasion to announce ambitious plans by the Directorate of Petroleum, Gas and Solid Minerals to open up economic opportunities for Nigerian youth through strategic engagement in the extractive sectors.

According to him, the Directorate is ready to collaborate with regulators, private sector players, and government agencies to create inclusive jobs and drive youth-led growth across the value chain of oil, gas, and solid minerals.

“We’re aligning fully with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Our mission is to support economic diversification and reduce youth unemployment through sustainable development of our natural resources,” Dauphin declared.
