NYSC Postpones Orientation for Corps Members Posted to Niger

By Queen Kunde

Thousands of prospective corps members posted to Niger State for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I service year will have to wait longer before beginning their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation programme.

The NYSC announced yesterday that the orientation course scheduled to hold at the Paiko Orientation Camp has been postponed indefinitely due to ongoing renovation work at the facility.

According to the scheme, the camp suffered extensive damage during a recent windstorm, prompting the Niger State Government to begin urgent repairs and rehabilitation.

NYSC management said efforts are already underway to secure an alternative venue for the orientation exercise and assured affected corps members that a new date would be announced soon.

The scheme appealed to prospective corps members and their families to remain patient and understanding while arrangements are being finalized.

In a statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the NYSC expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the postponement and thanked stakeholders for their cooperation.

Corps members affected by the development have been advised to await further official communication from the NYSC regarding the new orientation schedule.
