Omo-Agege’s lackey, Lawson Ogwa fingered in fake story on Oborevwori’s PDP return plot

Omo-Agege’s lackey, Lawson Ogwa fingered in fake story on Oborevwori’s PDP return plot

By Queen Kunde

Fresh revelations have unmasked Lawson Ogwa 2024, a known political foot soldier of former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, as the mastermind behind the recently circulated report alleging that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is plotting a return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The publication, which sparked widespread speculation and political uproar in Delta State, is now being dismissed by insiders as a calculated smear campaign orchestrated by political enemies who are desperate to stir confusion and discredit the governor’s rising profile.

A close source who pleaded anonymity, dismissed the reports as fabricated, accusing the camp of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, of sponsoring the narrative to undermine the governor and destabilize the state’s political equilibrium.

The controversial story, titled “Delta Drama: Sheriff, Others Plot Return to PDP Amid Secret Talks With Wike”, suggested that Governor Oborevwori, is purely the handiwork of Lawson Ogwa on the orders of those from the camp of the former Deputy Senate President.

The source, described the report as a smear campaign orchestrated by Omo-Agege’s camp, whom he accused of orchestrating media propaganda to create confusion and stir disaffection within Delta’s political system. He was even rebuked by a top APC members, who warned him against fabricating such narrative and “carry talk”.

“It is unfortunate that instead of encouraging Omo-Agege to position himself as a loyal progressive figure, his camp continues to indulge in lies, blackmail, and media manipulation. This is nothing but a desperate attempt to malign Governor Oborevwori and slow down the momentum of good governance in Delta State,” the source said.

Oborevwori, who won his 2023 election under the PDP amidst heated legal battle with Omo-Agege, defected to the APC in April 2025, a move that attracted celebration from APC national leaders and reasonable stakeholders within and outside Delta State.
