Residents and businesses in parts of Abuja should expect a six-hour power outage today, Wednesday, September 23, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out scheduled maintenance on a major power transformer.
TCN said its maintenance crew will work on a 100MVA power transformer and associated switchgear at the Central Area GIS 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The exercise is scheduled to run from 10am to 4pm, during which TCN engineers will carry out routine preventive checks on the equipment.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive and distribute power to customers in Wuse Zones 1–7, Sheraton Hotel, Central Business District, Utako, Jabi and surrounding areas
TCN said the maintenance is part of its routine preventive work aimed at keeping the transmission equipment in good working condition.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the planned outage.
