PRP Taraba Unveils Caretaker Team, Eyes Fresh Start

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Taraba Chapter, has ushered in a new era with the inauguration of a five-member Caretaker Committee following the expiration of its State Executive Council’s tenure on November 27, 2024.

The swearing-in ceremony, held on January 24, 2025, at the party’s state secretariat in Jalingo, was presided over by Hon. Mamman Kefas Munga. Acting on a directive from the PRP’s National Chairman, Mallam Falalu Bello, and National Secretary, Comrade Babatunde F. Ali, the committee was tasked with steering the party toward growth and success.

Engr. Idris Umar, the newly appointed chairman of the Caretaker Committee, described the development as a “new chapter” for the party in Taraba State. He pledged to lead the PRP with a focus on divine guidance and grassroots mobilization to secure victory in the 2027 elections.

“This is a new chapter,” Umar said. “We will put Almighty God first and seek His blessings to achieve success in all our endeavors as we work toward a brighter future for the PRP and Taraba State.”

Umar expressed confidence in the party’s vision, stating that the people of Taraba are increasingly embracing the PRP’s mission to bring about change. He called on citizens to support the party in its bid to unseat the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which he criticized for failing to deliver on its development promises.

As an opposition leader, Umar emphasized his commitment to driving change and fostering progress, with a focus on education, people-centered policies, and grassroots engagement. Addressing concerns about resources, he reaffirmed the PRP’s dedication to its ideology, promising to stay true to its principles despite financial limitations.

The committee has also been tasked with conducting elections across all levels of the party’s structure, from units to the state level, to strengthen its foundation.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Hon. Haruna Yunusa, who expressed optimism about the PRP’s prospects and the committee’s ability to chart a successful path forward for the party in Taraba State.
