The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The collaboration, formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), seeks to combat corruption in the administration of the Federal Government’s Defined Benefit Pension Scheme (DBS).
The MoU was signed by PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, and the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Odunaiya emphasized that the agreement underscores PTAD’s determination to uphold transparency and integrity in pension administration.
“This MoU reflects our shared resolve to combat pension corruption within the DBS, while ensuring good governance and accountability to every pensioner and stakeholder,” she said. “By leveraging our combined strengths, we will significantly enhance our capacity to prevent, detect, and prosecute corruption-related offenses in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
On his part, the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu, hailed the partnership as a milestone in the fight against fraudulent practices in pension administration.
“By combining PTAD’s robust and digitised pension database with ICPC’s investigative and prosecutorial powers, we are creating a seamless and powerful force against corruption,” he declared.
He also commended Odunaiya for her commitment to transparency, noting that the alliance aligns with both agencies’ mandate to safeguard Nigerians’ welfare.
The partnership is expected to bring renewed confidence to pensioners under the DBS scheme, many of whom have long decried fraud and inefficiencies in the system.
