The Rotary Club of the Central Business District (CBD), Abuja, has honoured the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Richard Pheelangwah, with its prestigious Award of Excellence, Leadership and Service.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit by the Club’s leadership to the Ministry in Abuja on Tuesday, with the Club’s President, Rotarian Kate Adamu, MFR, PHF, describing the recognition as a celebration of ethical leadership and impact-driven service.

“We honour individuals who exemplify integrity, excellence, and service in their various professions,” Adamu said. “Your name came up at our board meeting and was unanimously approved for this award.”
Pheelangwah, visibly moved by the recognition, expressed his gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Rotary’s humanitarian work, especially in underserved communities.
“Rotary International has shown consistent dedication to humanitarian causes,” he said. “This honour encourages me to do even more in supporting your initiatives.”
Rotarian Evelyn Onyilo, former Assistant Governor of Rotary, also applauded the Permanent Secretary’s contributions and invited him to join Rotary in its mission to transform lives.

The ceremony included the presentation of a Rotary Banner and capped a year of achievements under Adamu’s presidency, which officially ends on July 1.
The Rotary Club praised Pheelangwah’s efforts in water and sanitation reforms, noting that his leadership has touched lives far beyond the capital.
