SGF Names Two New FRSC Deputy Corps Marshals for South East, North East

By Queen Kunde

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Distinguished Senator George Akume, CON, has approved the appointment of two senior officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) as Deputy Corps Marshals (DCM) for the South East and North East geopolitical zones.

The appointments, which take immediate effect, are aimed at strengthening leadership depth, boosting operational effectiveness and consolidating national road safety management.

Those elevated are DCM Hyginus Omeje, currently the Head of the Operations Department, and DCM Mark Sabiya, who heads the Department of Finance and Accounts, both at the FRSC National Headquarters.

According to the SGF, the decision was guided by the need to deploy experienced, disciplined and performance-driven officers to strategic leadership positions to enhance service delivery and improve road safety outcomes across the country.

Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC described the appointments as timely and well-considered noting that they reinforce the Corps’ leadership structure at a critical period in Nigeria’s road safety journey.

He said the newly appointed Deputy Corps Marshals have distinguished themselves through decades of exemplary service, operational excellence and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Corps.

The Corps Marshal expressed confidence that their elevation would significantly enhance command effectiveness, stakeholder engagement and the implementation of targeted safety interventions, particularly in addressing traffic management and road safety challenges in their respective zones.

He further charged the new Deputy Corps Marshals to bring their wealth of experience to bear in advancing the FRSC’s mandate of safer roads for all Nigerians.
