RE: TARABA COMMUNITY KILLINGS – GROUP PETITIONS COMMISSIONER OF POLICE ( CP) OVER CONTINUED ATTACKS AND KILLINGS.
BY HAJIYA AISHATU ARDO(SARAUNIYA FULAKO)
Protocol;
First of all, we don’t want to join issues with the spoke person of the FUDECO..Since the intervention of the Taraba state government..we want to express our appreciation to God Almighty, and the Taraba State Governor, His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas and all the Security Agencies in the State for their collective efforts towards ensuring normalcy and restoration of peace in Gwomu community, which have been under siege by the Fulani Herders. We sincerely appreciate God for blessing us with a peace – loving Governor in the state and we pray for more peace so that the Government will deliver developmental projects to the people. It is just coming to our notice that upon all efforts put in place by the Government it is saddening to note that some group of individuals who have been under the umbrella of ‘ The Fulbe Development And Cultural Organization, (FUDECO ) still want to fan the flames of hostility,These individuals have even gone viral to give a press Release, Petitioning the CP, over their ungodly acts upon all efforts by the Government.
It’s no longer news that the Fulani Herders are ungrateful and could not recognized any constitutional GOVT / AUTHORITY. As such, it’s disheartening, and we as peace lovers in Gwomu Community want to state categorically, that Enough is Enough of the Unwanton killings of our innocent people. The journey of killings and massacres by the Fulani Herders in our Community is not an immediate thing ,it is incessant and delibrate , Yet, our people have proven to be peace loving and show high level of hospitality to all visitors and strangers residing in our Villages of Gwomu but unfortunately the patience and hospitality of our people is taken for granted.For instance, in November 2022, two of our prominent sons 1. MAIJIKA PERU BUBA and 2. WAILA BAMA were massacred by the Fulani Herders for no just cause. The Government at that time through the local Government Chairman and the DPO intervened. In view of that incident, a peace pact was signed between the Gwomu people and the Fulanis. Yet, the Fulanis violated the peace pact. Presently there are reports of mass destructions of crops by the grazing cattle of the Fulanis on people’s farms. The Gwomu people could only report to Security outfit because we are law abiding citizens. There’s no record of a Gwomu man who launched an attack on the Fulanis Herders . In all Communities living on the Eastern axis of Karim Lamido, Gwomu happens to be the only Community where the Fulani Herders lived and built modern houses for themselves and some of them married our daughters yet, they’re bent on eliminating us in our God given home.Before this crisis erupted, about four Fulani Herders launched an attack on a young man in Gwomu Bayan Dutse by the name ELKANAH NADAYA, beating him and inflicting deep cuts all over his body on his farm . This incident was reported to the police which is under investigation. The victim is still on admission in the hospital. In a space of one week, another killing occurred and sadly it was of our Village Head by name ABEDNADAB WAKILI on his farm.. With this gruesome killings of our kinsmen shows clearly that our lives is considered nothing and of no value to the Fulani Herders.
it’s obvious that the Fulani Herders could not recognized the peace pact and it is very unfortunate that today, we are called and refered to as “militias”. Therefore, we wish to request the State Government to investigate this write -up by one, Aishatu Ardo (Sarauniya Fulako) to prove her statements and provide the following answers to the Gwomu Nation, with a view to ascertaining the veracity of her claims.
- Who launched the attack first ?
- Since we are militias, why do the Fulanis agreed to co-habit with us ?
- She should tender her evidence which classify our people as militias.
- These and more questions need to be answered by the writer HAJIYA AISHATU ARDO
- What is the fate of the children of the Village Head killed.
It is pertinent to note that there wasn’t
cattle route in Gwomu Land that farmers infringed on, all these are mere cheap points to backup the criminality of the killer Fulani Herders.
Nevertheless ,we have chosen the path of peace instead of war..
This ugly trend is not in the interest of peace and unity in our Community.
May God deliver our land from the hand of the traitors and unfriendly friends. Amen
