The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has applauded the appointment of Bar. Stella Din Jacob as the new Executive Director, News of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), describing her elevation as a landmark achievement in the nation’s broadcast industry.
In a statement signed by the Council Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the NUJ hailed Jacob as the first woman ever to occupy the prestigious role, praising her for decades of distinction, integrity, and transformative leadership in journalism.
“Stella Din Jacob is an ace broadcaster with an enviable career track, who has groomed and mentored countless professionals across the media landscape,” the statement noted.
The NUJ further highlighted that its current FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, was once a reporter under Jacob’s mentorship at the Silverbird Group, describing it as a testament to her enduring impact on the next generation of journalists.
The Council lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it called a “commendable and inclusive appointment,” emphasizing that Jacob’s blend of media expertise and legal acumen would help reposition the NTA for excellence in national broadcasting.
Over the years, Stella Din Jacob has held key editorial and leadership roles in leading media organizations including Silverbird Group, Channels Television, and TVC News, where she managed large newsrooms and championed credible, balanced, and impactful news coverage.
Expressing confidence in her capacity to deliver, the NUJ FCT Council stated that her leadership at NTA would inspire women in journalism, deepen professionalism, and foster national unity and development.
“We are immensely proud that a media professional of Stella Din Jacob’s caliber who has nurtured talents within our ranks is now leading the news arm of the NTA. We assure her of our total support and wish her great success,” the Council declared.
