The Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Taraba State Command CC.
Anthony Bala Bitrus has assured the State Commander NDLEA of NSCDC’s unflinching support and collaboration in the fight against drug related crimes in Taraba State.
Commandant Anthony made the declaration when he visited the Commander NDLEA, CN. Obadiah Umar at the NDLEA State Command Headquarters Jalingo.
This is contained in a press statement signed by the Command’s Spokesman CSC Iliya Samaila and made available to Ziti News.
In his remarks, Commandant Anthony expressed his satisfaction with the level of reception accorded him despite short notice.
He further thanked the NDLEA Commander for the harmonious working relationship his predecessors enjoyed with the NDLEA.
Anthony urged that the relationship be strengthen the more for better service delivery.
Commandant Anthony told the Commander NDLEA that he was specifically directed by the Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni (OFR), whose visionary leadership is taking the Corps to a greater height, to work closely with the NDLEA and other security agencies in achieving their common goals, as no security agency can succeed alone.
He pleaded with the Commander to make resource persons available when the NSCDC comes knocking for training of it’s personnel by the NDLEA.
Responding, the State Commander NDLEA CN. Obadiah Umar, thanked the NSCDC team for dignifying him with a visit.
He said the NDLEA has enjoyed productive collaboration with the NSCDC sighting an example with an event that happened in 2022 when NSCDC personnel rescued NDLEA officers who were on an operation that almost cost them their lives in the hands of a mob while they were trying to arrest a drug kingpin.
He said the management of both agencies must work assiduously to stem the tide of rising inter-agency rivalry among sister agencies especially the junior officers, which is threatening the unity of the security agencies in the state.
He maintained that it is only when security agencies are united that they can defeat insecurity.
CN. Obadiah expressed his readiness to avail his resource persons for the training of the men of the NSCDC anytime the need arises. He prayed for God’s guidance and wisdom over the affairs of the new Commandant and wished him a successful tenure in office while he holds sway in Taraba.
