Transcorp Hilton Deepens Ties with NUJ-FCT, Pledges Stronger Media Collaboration

Transcorp Hilton Deepens Ties with NUJ-FCT, Pledges Stronger Media Collaboration

By Queen Kunde

In a renewed show of commitment to media partnership, Transcorp Hilton Abuja on Friday, August 1, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, reaffirming its strategic collaboration with the press community.

Led by the Commercial Director, Betty Aguiyi-Ironsi, and E-Commerce Manager, Ijeoma Osuji—the first women to occupy those roles at the prestigious hotel, the delegation was warmly received by NUJ-FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, and members of the council’s executive.

Speaking during the visit, Aguiyi-Ironsi noted the critical role the media plays in national development, praising journalists as “frontline workers” whose efforts deserve recognition and support.

“We are simply here to appreciate the media and pledge to continue our strategic relationship with the NUJ-FCT,” she said. “Your publicity ensures we maintain our visibility, and we deeply value that.”

In her remarks, Comrade Grace Ike hailed the hotel’s consistency as a reliable media partner, especially for its support during the 2025 NUJ-FCT Press Week Public Lecture held at the hotel. She also commended the emergence of women leaders at the helm of Transcorp Hilton operations.

“The hospitality and support shown by Transcorp Hilton Abuja is never taken for granted,” she said. “We look forward to more collaborations, including the revival of the annual media cocktail party that brings together journalists and senior editors after a busy year.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Osuji reaffirmed the hotel’s appreciation for the media’s role in promoting its brand, stating: “Our relevance in the hospitality sector owes a great deal to the visibility provided by the media. We do not take it lightly.”

The NUJ-FCT Executive Council, including Vice Chairman Yahaya Ndambabo, Secretary Jide Oyekunle, Assistant Secretary Sharon Emephia, Treasurer Sandra Udeike, Financial Secretary Henry Daniel Abimiku, and Internal Auditor Rosemary Ukoko-Tega, were present at the meeting, which further solidified the enduring relationship between both organizations.

Transcorp Hilton Abuja, a multiple-award-winning hotel, remains one of the NUJ-FCT’s key partners in promoting media excellence and hospitality-driven development.
