The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has begun repairs on four power transmission towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP–Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line.
The affected towers, identified as T50 to T53, were discovered damaged on August 6, 2026, by TCN lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.
According to TCN, key parts of the towers had been removed and taken away by vandals, leaving the vital power infrastructure damaged.
The company said the latest attack is the fifth vandalism incident on the same transmission line in recent times, raising fresh concerns over the safety and reliability of electricity supply in the area.
TCN said rehabilitation work is currently ongoing to restore the damaged towers and strengthen the transmission line.
The company also called on residents, communities, security agencies and other stakeholders to work together to stop the repeated attacks on power infrastructure.
It warned that vandalism remains a serious threat to the stability of the national electricity grid.
