In a powerful display of purpose rising from pain, High Chief Dr. Chetachi Nwoga Ecton, philanthropist and humanitarian, has announced a major medical outreach to honor the legacy of her late mother, Mama Ezinne Priscilla Chinyere Nwoga, who passed on March 1, 2025, in the United States of America, U.S.A at the age of 85.
At a moving press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council Headquarters in Utako, Abuja, on Tuesday 24th June 2025, Dr. Ecton described her mother as a “prayer warrior, first teacher, and moral compass,” whose life of compassion and quiet service laid the foundation for everything she has built.
“Even in mourning, we unite in purpose,” Dr. Ecton told a hall filled with dignitaries, royal fathers, partners, and members of the press. “The Medical and Mission of Mercy Outreach is not just an event; it’s a movement of healing and a call to compassion.”
The outreach, scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Garki Primary School, Abuja, aims to serve over 2,000 children between the ages of 0 and 12 with free medical services, economic support, and social interventions. It marks the kickoff of a series of events designed to celebrate the life and legacy of Mama Priscilla Nwoga, culminating in her final interment in Nigeria on January 3, 2026.
The Chairman of the Occasion, His Royal Majesty Igwe Sir Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, Ogadagidi of Edem Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Enugu State, praised the initiative, noting that “the true joy is in the legacy Mama left behind is in her daughter, who has followed in her noble footsteps.”
“In giving back even during grief, Dr. Ecton shows us the kind of woman her mother raised,” HRM Asadu stated, pledging his unwavering support to her humanitarian work.
Echoing similar sentiments, the Sa’Peyi of Garki, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Usman Nga Kupi, urged the general public to come out en masse for the outreach. “Mama had a heart of gold, and I see that same spirit alive in her daughter. We will stand with her,” he affirmed.
Dr. Onogu Samuel, the lead medical officer for the outreach, assured that top-quality equipment and personnel have been mobilized, thanks to generous support from Dr. Ecton. He described the outreach as one of the most ambitious community health efforts seen in the FCT in recent times.
Other supporters at the briefing included Amb. Nana Aisha Mahmoud, Dr. Adora Sydney Jack, Comrade Noah Emmanuel (National President, NOGALASS), and several representatives of civil society and student unions, all of whom pledged to rally behind Dr. Ecton’s vision.
The host closed her speech with heartfelt gratitude and a solemn promise: “We will carry this torch of compassion forward. Mama may be gone in flesh, but she lives in every child we heal, every life we touch.”
Dr. Ecton also announced that her home is now open for condolence visits, as preparations intensify for both the outreach and the global farewell program which includes a service of songs in the U.S. in September, before her mother’s remains return to Nigeria in December 2025.
With over four decades of humanitarian work across more than 30 states in Nigeria and several countries worldwide, Dr. Ecton’s foundation, When in Need (WIN) and ELIMH Foundation, continue to shine as beacons of hope now powered even more by the spirit of the woman who inspired it all.
