The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has once again set the pace in Nigerian politics by being the first political party to successfully organize its National Convention ahead of the 2027 general elections. The convention, held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Immaculate Diamond Hotels, Abuja, saw the re-election of Chief Barr. Dan Nwanyanwu as National Chairman, along with other national officers who will steer the party towards achieving greater political milestones.
Addressing newsmen after the convention, Nwanyanwu described the event as a demonstration of ZLP’s readiness to lead Nigeria into a new political era. He noted that the early convention was a strategic move to position the party at the forefront of political mobilization, alignment, and realignment ahead of 2027.
“We have set the agenda ahead of other political parties. The Zenith Labour Party is not just another political party; we are the most prepared, most organized, and the only party truly ready to win seats across the country come 2027,” Nwanyanwu asserted.
“We have produced local government chairmen and councillors, and we will expand our influence by ensuring more visibility and relevance in upcoming elections.”
Speaking on behalf of the newly elected national officers, Nwanyanwu pledged to continue strengthening the party, ensuring that ZLP remains a formidable force in Nigerian politics.
Meanwhile, the ZLP National Chairman also took the opportunity to address the allegations making rounds that opposition parties received ?50 million from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to weaken their ranks.
Dismissing the claim as “a fallacy from the pit of hell,” Nwanyanwu rebuked the assertion made by former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“It is an insult for Atiku Abubakar to claim that political parties collected ?50 million. ZLP is too big for such a meager sum. If we were to negotiate, we wouldn’t accept anything less than ?50 billion,” he said.
“This is a baseless claim aimed at tarnishing the image of opposition party leaders. If Atiku has evidence, let him present it.”
Nwanyanwu further stated that the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has already refuted the allegations, emphasizing that such remarks from a political figure of Atiku’s stature should be backed by concrete proof.
As ZLP forges ahead with renewed leadership and unwavering focus, the party has reaffirmed its commitment to reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape and securing electoral victories in 2027.
