The Education Resource Centre (ERC) has reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards in the conduct of examinations across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), assuring parents, candidates, and stakeholders of fairness, credibility, and transparency.
Director of the FCT Education Resource Centre, Dr. Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, made this known during the 2025 entrance examination into the prestigious School for the Gifted. She stressed that the credibility of examinations in the Territory rests on strict adherence to laid-down processes and procedures.
Represented by Mr. Friday Bere, Director, Community Services and Entrepreneurship Division, Dr. Abdulrahim emphasized the importance of early preparation, timely release of timetables, adequate logistics, confidentiality of question papers, orientation for students and invigilators, as well as emergency preparedness to ensure seamless exercises.
“These standards safeguard the integrity of the education system, ensure equal opportunity for candidates, and guarantee that certificates issued are accepted both locally and internationally,” she stated, adding that merit and excellence remain the only criteria for admission.
On this year’s entrance examination for the School for the Gifted, she said the exercise was hitch-free, with candidates well received, properly arranged, and supervised without any challenges.
Out of over 600 candidates who sat for the examination, only 400 are expected to gain admission into the School for the Gifted.
Parents and candidates expressed confidence in the process, describing the examination as fair, transparent, and credible. Many commended the FCT-ERC for its orderliness and professionalism in upholding standards.
Dr. Abdulrahim further assured stakeholders that the FCT Minister has prioritized education in the Territory, with visible results already emerging through the unwavering support of the Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo.
She urged parents to maintain confidence in the system, noting that the ERC will continue to uphold excellence in examination conduct to produce competent graduates who will contribute meaningfully to national development.
